What you get
  • Make, model, colour & year — confirm the basics match the advert before you travel
  • Engine size & fuel type — verify it's the variant you're actually looking at
  • Current MOT expiry date — know exactly how long is left before the next test
  • Road tax (VED) status — confirm it's currently taxed and legal to drive away
  • SORN status — flag if the vehicle is declared off-road, which affects insurance and driving legality
  • Registered keeper count — more keepers isn't always bad, but it's worth knowing before you ask questions

A quick sanity check before you commit to viewing. Takes two seconds — just enter the reg. If the basics don't match the advert, you've already saved yourself a wasted journey.

£ 8.99
Per check
Run Vehicle History Report — £8.99
What you get
  • Outstanding finance check — if the car has PCP or HP finance against it, the finance company technically owns it. Buying it means inheriting their debt. This check tells you before you pay
  • Stolen vehicle register search — cross-checks against the national police database. A stolen car can be seized at any point, leaving you out of pocket
  • Write-off category (Cat A, B, S, N) — not all write-offs are dangerous, but you need to know. A Cat S or N car repaired properly can still be a good buy — but only if you know it's there and the price reflects it
  • Number plate change history — private plates can be used to hide a vehicle's true age, mileage history or accident record
  • Keeper & VIN cross-check — verifies the number of previous registered keepers against the DVLA record and flags any VIN discrepancies
  • Scrapped & exported flag — confirms the vehicle hasn't been registered as scrapped or permanently exported, which can void insurance and affect resale
  • Colour change history — a resprayed car isn't automatically suspicious, but undisclosed colour changes can indicate a previous accident repair
  • Salvage status — recovered or non-structure damage classification affects insurance eligibility and resale value
  • High risk marker — flags third-party interests in the vehicle that could affect ownership
  • VSC logbooks — vehicle service history verification to confirm maintenance records
  • Experian data guarantee — £10,000 accuracy guarantee on all Vehicle History Report data

A car can look perfect on the outside and still have serious legal problems attached to it. Outstanding finance, a stolen marker, a hidden write-off category -- none of these show up on a visual inspection or a test drive. This check searches the records that matter, so you know exactly what you're buying before any money changes hands. Vehicle History data provided by Experian, backed by a £10,000 data accuracy guarantee.

Common Questions

Anything else?

Do I need an account to run a check?
No. Any check can be run without creating an account. Enter the reg, pay, and your report is delivered immediately. It's also emailed to you so you can refer back to it.
Are there any subscriptions or recurring charges?
None whatsoever. Folt is purely pay-per-check. You pay once, you get your report. No renewals, no monthly fees, no hidden charges — ever.
How up-to-date is the data?
DVLA data is fetched live at the point of lookup. MOT history is updated daily from DVSA. Recall data is synced from the DVSA database regularly. AI fault intelligence is refreshed periodically.
Can I get a refund if the check comes back clean?
A clean report is a good outcome — it means the car checks out. We don't refund completed checks on that basis, but if you believe there's been a genuine data error, contact us and we'll investigate at no charge.
When will Vehicle History Report be available?
We're actively integrating Vehicle History Reports now. Get in touch if you'd like to be notified the moment it goes live — we'll email you directly.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported on compatible devices. All payments are processed securely — Folt never sees or stores your card details.
